So close on the afghan square! But while knitting at swimming lessons with only 4 rows left to go the end of the yarn popped out of my bag! I hadn't looked at what was left recently, so was surprised when I ran out. I do have more of that yarn, it just wasn't with me.
I did have washcloth knitting with me though, so here's "Peace."

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 55
I worked more on the fair isle bag that will no longer be a bag today. When looking at it I decided that it would work nicely as the stocking I'm supposed to be making for a swap I'm in. That was a nice bonus to make that decision and realize I had about 6" done when earlier in the day I had no idea what pattern I'd even use for the stocking. DH was skeptical that I was going to turn this bag into a stocking with no pattern. Details! It will be no problem at all I'm sure.
The view out back last night was particularly pretty.

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 54
I went to the Stitches East Market in Hartford today. I took a one-hour class in Fair Isle knitting. I was hoping for some help with using one yarn in each hand, but the class was much more basic that that. Oh well. Our practice piece can be turned into a little bag. I'll have to decide who gets it when it's finished.
I also got to knit on the Big Sock attempt at a Guinness World Record. The rest of the afternoon was spent wandering around looking at piles upon piles of yarn.

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 53
I forgot the cast on instructions for the next afghan square when I went to gymnastics, so I couldn't work on that. I did have the makings of the Love washcloth with me though. I cast on when we got there and was just about to bind off when Emily came out of class. This is part of the Peace, Love & Happiness washcloth sets I'll be making for some quick Christmas gifts.

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 49
More Eunice socks - today I finished the gusset decreases and also realized I'm missing the last page of the pattern. I got this one from a friend, so I need to wait for the rest of it.
I started another afghan square. (I think these things are never-ending!) This one is cabled hearts and I finished one repeat.

No Make 'n' Tell Today
I was up and on the road very early today headed to the NY Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, NY. It ended up being a beautiful day and I was inspired by all sorts of wooly goodness.
Though I didn't manage to actually create anything of my own today, my daughter Emily did. She made a corn husk doll.
And later she knit a row of this scarf.
Yes, the knitting needles were almost as tall as she was - what fun!

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 46
I finished the socks! In time to wear them to Rhinebeck (without staying up all night to finish)! And I bought cool new shoes to show them off too.
I'm pleased with how they turned out. They match the sweater perfectly, but I won't use this yarn for socks again. It was rough on my hands knitting it at an appropriate gauge for socks and had very little stretch.
No picture of the new shoes yet, that will have to come later.

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 45
The camera at my picture! I took it, went to upload, no pictures. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with my camera.
Anyway, the second sock is about halfway through the gusset decreases, which means it is about half done. Not quite as much progress as I had hoped, but the goal is still within reach.

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 41
First a broken needle, then the sock doesn't fit! So I tried on the sock before knitting more today & it wouldn't go over my heel. I'm knitting this yarn at a pretty tight gauge and with the high cotton content there isn't a whole lot of stretch to it, so I had to rip it all out and start over.
I cast on again, going up a needle size and adding a pattern repeat. I managed to complete 9 pattern repeats in length, so I'm very slightly further along than yesterday. And I have 5 knitting days left - better get busy!

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 38 & 39
Not much time for creativity on Thursday, but I managed to unknit the heel flap and reknit half of it. Friday I finished the heel flap. I had to set that sock aside so I could cast on for the February Lady Socks that I want finished before Oct. 17th. I cast on the first sock, knit the ribbing and first two pattern repeats. Photos tomorrow, I forgot to take them today.

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 37
Still working on the mystery knit. The most recent instructions have me knitting an additional 16". I'm almost there and the strip will be 30.5" long when I finish this step. Any guesses? I could search on Ravelry and figure it out from the suggested yarn given, but I'm trying to be good and let it be a mystery until the end. What will this thing end up being?!?
I also finished the second repeat on the sock and knit 13 rows of the heel flap. Here's a tip - trust your intuition! I was at knit night when I started the heel flap, which has a charted pattern. The very first row I looked at it and said, "that's wrong". Then I looked at it some more, figured they must be doing something I couldn't yet see and knit 13 rows. I looked at it just as it was time to leave. "That's definitely wrong!" The center cables were reversed (knit where there were supposed to be purls & purls instead of knits). Stupid pattern. I came home & checked online - sure enough, there was errata for the pattern. What I initially thought was wrong was, and if I did what I knew I should have done I would not have to rip out those 13 rows & do them again. Oh well.

Make n’ Tell Challenge: Day 36
More sock today, almost through the second repeat. I'm still recovering from this past weekend & couldn't keep my eyes open quite long enough to finish.
I also swatched for a pair of socks to match the February Lady Sweater I finished on Day 5. I'm going to try to use the leftover yarn from the sweater, which isn't ideal, so I needed to figure out what needles to use. I want to finish these before the NY Sheep & Wool Festival on October 17th. (So I really need to cast on soon to have any chance at all.)
